DJ LRM: i took my intials from my name & created something that represents me. it means Lots of Respect Motherfuckas !!

DJ LRM: 12 years

BLAKMARKET.NET: Speaking of being a DJ, do you do parties or just mixtapes?

DJ LRM: i do both..i am a real dj

BLAKMARKET.NET: Who are some artist(s) you've worked with and would like to work with in the future?

DJ LRM: i've worked with Ruff Ryders, Def Jam, Rocafella & etc. i am not big on name dropping...just trust that i'm doing my thing

BLAKMARKET.NET: Speaking of mixtapes. Where do you see the game is headed? And what can be done to change it? if anything....

DJ LRM: i see the mixtape game dying and when i mean that i am saying there will be no more mixtapes in the streets..the music industry is going through a transition where retail wil no longer exist in a few years & the world of download is becoming the future. There is nothing that we can do about it...it's life Nothing last forever

BLAKMARKET.NET: You're predominantly known for your Instrumental World and R&B Fever series. How do you get those exclusive R&B and Instrumental tracks?

DJ LRM: Cuz I'm the man..LOL

BLAKMARKET.NET: I know you use to run with Get Money Nation. What happened with that? Is that the reason you formed  Follow The Future?

DJ LRM: I used to be with Get Money Nation but things didn't work out...there was no bad blood but i felt it was time for me to leave. I didn't create Follow the Future to replace Get Money Nation...I had created Follow the Future for other reasons.

BLAKMARKET.NET:Who and what is Follow The Future?

DJ LRM: Follow the Future is the name of a team i created to help other djs get the marketing & the promotion they need to succeed in this game. Follow the Future consist of Blake (Stackhouse Recordings), Dj One Flight, Dj Roz, Dj Nel E Nel & Myself

BLAKMARKET.NET: What would be one of your most memorable mixtapes and why?

DJ LRM: I think every mixtape I drop is Memorable & the reason why is because i put my all in every mixtape i've dropped..might sound cocky but it is how i feel

BLAKMARKET.NET: Is there anything you feel like you have not accomplish?

DJ LRM: i haven't hit the radio yet..but 07' is the year

BLAKMARKET.NET: So I guess the radio rumors are true... Are we finally going to have you spinning on the air?

DJ LRM: yes you are going to hear lrm on the radio soon...radio deals in philadelphia are on the table but nothing is offical yet 
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: You've been involved in a few misunderstandings with DJs. How do you feel about the whole beef topic? Especially DJs beefing!

DJ LRM: djs beefing is part of the game...djs are just like the rappersI have had my situations with djs but nothing i couldn't handle

BLAKMARKET.NET: A lot of DJs, who probably not as successful as you, I see wearing a lot of jewelery... throwing big rims on their cars and so on... I don't really see you indulging in that. Why is that?

DJ LRM: because the jewlery, rims & etc to me is wasting money...this game is not going to last forever & i'm looking to use my money to invest in my future

BLAKMARKET.NET: You were once an up and coming DJ. What advice you have for those young cats?

DJ LRM: be creative & bring something to the game that is not to common anymore...skillz!!

BLAKMARKET.NET: Any up coming projects your fans should be expecting from you?

DJ LRM: My fans can expect what they always expect...quality & good music

BLAKMARKET.NET: Big Mike, you’re a young guy who’s probably considered a pioneer in this mixtape industry. How long have you been at it and how did you get involved?

Big Mike: Been djin 12 years,making mixtapes about 6,I bought my first pair of Gemini bd1600 turntables in High School& been at it ever since

BLAKMARKET.NET: A DJ is only as good as his drive and ambition. Who and/or what inspires you?
 
Big Mike: I'm a humble,yet competitive person.if I see another DJ with a song or 
exclusive I don't have,that means I'm not working hard enough,and I gotta do whatever it takes to put myself in the position to not let that happen again.

BLAKMARKET.NET: There are many different DJs (club, mixtape, R&B, exclusive, blend, reggae DJs and more…) What type would you say you are?

Big Mike: I can do everything.I came in the game carrying records for Billy Busch,Craig G&DJ SNS,so I seen some of the best rock first hand,then I 
transitioned into the mixtape game,and you already know the deal with that.

BLAKMARKET.NET: You’ve accomplished a great deal, now is there anything you have had your heart set on and have yet to conquer?

Big Mike: I've always wanted to get on new York radio,hot 97 specifically,but the way the game is now,you don't need to get on in NY to get shit poppin,case 
in point Clinton sparks,you do need radio though its vital. Shit just aint the same in NY anymore,it seems like all the big records get played "last" here instead of first like it use to be,

BLAKMARKET.NET: I’m sure fans all across are wondering… when will the infamous Big Mike be on the air waves?

Big Mike: Reread lastquestion,look for something major in fall 07"

BLAKMARKET.NET: Speaking of the radio, is there an album or deal in the making for you?

Big Mike: I've had a few Indies deals on table,nothing crazy though,with the state of the 
game, I wanna have a few other key things into place before I venture out,in the meantime I'm staying hot on the streets working.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What are some of the artist (DJs, Rappers,
Producers) you’ve worked with? And whom would you like to work with in the future?

Big Mike: Too many to mention,all the big doggs though,dblock,G unit,dipset,puff daddy,to name a few

BLAKMARKET.NET: With the popularity of ipods and downloads… How far do you see mixtapes going? Will that change the way labels and DJs promote their 
artist(s)?

Big Mike: It sure better if they wanna stay relevant,its a new day in music,and you gotta change with the times

BLAKMARKET.NET: There’s probably a handful of people who haven’t heard of you and 
for those who haven’t, why should they jump on the bandwagon? What makes Big Mike stand out from the rest?

Big Mike: Because I feel like I'm the only DJ out there playing hot shit from track 1-21. A lot of DJs have great covers and concepts,but the cd is 
trash.at the end of the day people,you put the cd in the player,not the artwork.so make your shit rite,stop robbing the consumer!!!!! Ha

BLAKMARKET.NET: Besides being a DJ, what are some of the other hats you wear?

Big Mike: I'm venturing into real estate,been watching the show house flippers a lot,music really occupies all my time,but thats something that will be 
there when music isn't anymore

BLAKMARKET.NET: If there was anything, as far as your career and mixtapes that you would change, what would that be and why?

Big Mike: I've burned a few bridges in the game. Its hard coming up because a lot 
of times the powers that be have a regular routine of giving the music out,and if I'm a new jack coming up,how can I ever pass my competition out by not going outside the box and overstepping a lil bit? Sometimes it seems like disrespect is all people respect in the game,

BLAKMARKET.NET: We talked about being a pioneer, what advice would you give an upcoming DJ? Do you think it’s better to drop 4 or 5 mixtapes at one time or one good quality tape?

Big Mike: Find your own niche and be creative with what you do,consistency is important,but not if its consistent garbage

BLAKMARKET.NET: How did you become that go to guy when it comes to getting official D-Block material?

Big Mike: Me and supa mario have a great relationship,which in turn led to me having a good relationship with the guys(kiss,sp,louch,hood) realest dudes in the game,hands down

Big Mike: 50 cent the future is now,that cd made DJ bigmike a household name

BLAKMARKET.NET: Welcome to Blakmarket.net Brandi, tell the people where you rep and how long you been in the game?

Brandi Garcia: I rep H-Town (Houston,TX) which is where I stay now but I'm
originally from Tallahassee, FL and I always rep my hometown!

BLAKMARKET.NET: I have to ask you is Brandi Garcia your real name or stage name?

Brandi Garcia: First name is real and the last name is a fake... I didn't get a spanish last name cause my mom's the one who's spanish not my dad.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Do you strictly stay with mixtapes or are you up in the clubs or on radio?

Brandi Garcia: All three!  I'm a triple threat... I was a radio personality first and did the other two afterwards.

BLAKMARKET.NET: How did the radio opportunity come about?

Brandi Garcia: I did an internship as a teen at a local radio station and loved it!  We made a radio station at my high school and I was able to get a job at a local station right after graduation.  Been moving on up ever since.

BLAKMARKET.NET: You've had a sleuth of artist on your radio show- Which artist interview sticks out the most?

Brandi Garcia: Lil' Scrappy was one of the funniest cause he was still tipsy from some Grey Goose off the plane.  Busta is always a great interview because of his animated personality.  And I liked interviewing 50 cent because he is well spoken and really thinks about his answers and what he is going to say.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Do you mix live on turntables when you're on the radio?

Brandi Garcia: Nope. I have before but The Hollywood Boys mix on our radio show right now.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Lets talk mixtapes for a minute. Can you tell us about the first mixtape you ever released?

Brandi Garcia: I did a collabo with DJ Dimepiece called "Ladies 1st" and we jut thought it would be a cool concept to have two female dj's do a tape.  I had never seen that before and thought it would be great!

BLAKMARKET.NET: What can the fans expect to hear from you on a mixtape? Are you putting out blends, straight exclusives or displaying the skills?

Brandi Garcia: It's pretty much a mixture of national, regional & local artists all mixed together.  I believe in breaking new artists especially on mixtapes but also want to have enough well-known people on there so people will listen to the tape.  All of my tapes are mixed with a little bit of scratching at the beginning of the songs but that's not my strength so I just try to keep a good flow and blend one song into the next.  I like to pop in a tape and listen straight thru. You can do that with mine!

BLAKMARKET.NET: What's your creative process like when putting together a CD or preparing for a show?

Brandi Garcia: I just wake up certain days and say Ok, it's time to do another one!  Or if I have a particular artist in the studio I will ask if they want to host a tape.  Sometimes the label will hit me up like with my Monica CD.  Then I gather about 40-50 songs and just start with one and see what direction it goes.  Some songs make it some don't.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Can you give us some insight on the type of equipment and/or programs you use?

Brandi Garcia: Adobe Audition.  Been using it forever in radio and feel most comfortable using it.  I also use Serato to mix.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What's the difference between your CDs now and your previous releases?

Brandi Garcia: I finally have a system in place to promote and distribute my mixtapes.  It’s taken a long time to learn who to work with as far as duplication, artwork, and printing to make sure it is a well put together package.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What tapes have been the most memorable that you put together?

Brandi Garcia: I love the tape that LeToya and I did together because it was such a great experience to get together in the studio and put the whole project together.  It was a great prequel to her album.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Who are your influences? And who continues to inspire you? Why?

Brandi Garcia: Angie Martinez because she was the 1st Latina female on a large scale to do radio…Jennifer Lopez and Diddy for their business savy and their ability to do many different projects and be successful with all of them.  Lazy K for putting females in the mixtape game.  All of the female mixers such as Jazzy Joyce, Coco Chanel, Spinderella, etc. who opened the door for the rest of us to come in and do our thang.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Do you have any endorsement deals do you have on the table?

Brandi Garcia: I endorse lashes for extremelashes.com and also am sponsored by Rebellious Jeans which is a clothing company here in Houston.  I am definitely open for more though!

BLAKMARKET.NET: Who are some of the artist you've worked with? and are there any artists your looking to work with?

Brandi Garcia: I just finished working with Huey who hosted my latest mixtape.  I’ve worked with Monica, LeToya, Lil Flip, Three 6 Mafia, and a few others on previous mixtapes and will be working with Brooke Valentine for an upcoming project.  I would love to work with Diddy cause it would be a great experience, Chris Brown for an R&B tape, 50 Cent because it would be very different from the usual southern sound & Chamillionaire cause he’s sick on the mixtapes!

BLAKMARKET.NET: Everyone is worried about the state of mixtapes now and being that you’re a female DJ in a male dominated industry, where do you see mixtapes going right now?

Brandi Garcia: I see mixtapes hopefully going back to where they originated… and that’s as a promotional tool.  To promote you as a DJ, to promote the new music & artists and most importantly to BREAK new artists!  It’s not about making a lot of money off of the artists music…it’s about using it as a tool to accomplish other things such as securing deals like DJ Drama & DJ Khaled have done.  It’s about networking with the artists and making good music that the people can be excited about so that when the albums drop they will sell.

BLAKMARKET.NET: This may seem typical but is it harder for a female DJ to obtain respect in this game?

Brandi Garcia: Absolutely!  On one hand it’s easier to get noticed because you stand out but it’s also three times as hard to get respect.  It can come over time but you have to earn it and not just be a pretty girl standing in front of some turntables.  The real and the fake separate themselves over time.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What can your fans expect from you in the immediate future and do you have any business ventures and or plans you're expecting?

Brandi Garcia: Just gonna keep on grinding the mixtapes out and reppin for the ladies!  I am also working on something else but can’t speak on it at this time.

this?

Smooth Denali: whats good homie - first let me say thanks for the opportunity here .. Thats rights its the Mixtape's Classic King Smooth Denali - Smooth came 
along time ago when I was djing with BIZ back in the early 90's cuz the way I made my transitions in mixing and Denali came from BLU WARTA (RIP) 
- in one of his rhymes when he said he rides over smooth beats like a Denali - don't ask me why but it stuck!!

BLAKMARKET.NET: In my eyes, your probably the most humble, successful DJ I've met. How 
does it feel to be a pioneer and still keep your morals?

Smooth Denali: everybody keeps saying pioneer and I find that funny - maybe cuz im older but pioneer definitely not - just been doing it a long time and really never drifted off into another lane really - Old school is what I 
do and will continue to do - Its just me - I like some new music but this is my lane so ......

BLAKMARKET.NET: You call yourself the classic king. How did you get that moniker?

Smooth Denali: You tell me???? lol - I came up wit it and if anybody wants to come for 
it - bring i!! - simple as that - people gotta understand you can have all the old school music and know your history but to put it on cd and make it sound right and build upon it ...theres not many that I see can touch me on it .. I'm 24 cds deep in old school - what djs are probably thinking of doing - I've already done - I have 6 classic ratings on RAPMULLET.. 6 - feel me??? - break that down - that 1 in every 4 I drop  
- thats instant classic - I call it like I see it ...

BLAKMARKET.NET: Since we're on the classic topic, which means you release only quality 
material. How do you feel about DJs dropping 4 to 6 Cds every two weeks 
or so?

Smooth Denali: they whoring themselves ...basically - some of these cats need to slow down and enjoy -but that comes wit the exclusive game - too much so called "exclusive" music  ... but what happens is they start mixing garbage and lose 
creditability -

BLAKMARKET.NET: What would you say is your most successful mixtape?

Smooth Denali: Whos The GREATEST MC VOL.1 BIGGIE and HIP HOP CLASSICS - the first one
without a doubt ....

BLAKMARKET.NET: Going through your catalog I noticed you have everything from Best Of's, Old School, Reggae, Instrumentals and even Reggaeton. How do you stay on 
point and know what to play?

Smooth Denali: i love music and i just alway stay in tune with what people want to hear - I get calls everyday from people saying why don't you do this cd or do 
this cd and I listen - the majority of my fan base is over 30 (30 is the new 20 my dude ... lol) - so I kinda listen to what they gotta say cuz they the one's buying

BLAKMARKET.NET: Not to make you sound old but you're from the cassette era and it's funny, but you're still building a legacy in this CD/MP3 era. What would 
you say is the major difference between the two?

Smooth Denali: lol ... the LOOT!!!! thats the only difference ... oh and the fact that the playing field as far as getting new music is basically leveling out

BLAKMARKET.NET: Speaking of eras. you're from the crate carrying era..LOL. What's your 
say on Serato?

Smooth Denali: SERATO ALL DAY ... I carried crates .. milk crates , travel cases - for 
too long - SERATO is the best thing invented for the DJ since the technics 1200

BLAKMARKET.NET: You and J-Love have a radio show on satellite... How did you acquire 
that position, do you have guest appearances and when can your listeners tune in?

Smooth Denali: The PUREAMZEMENT RADIO SHOW friday nites from 2am to 4an - iVE BEEN ON sirius for 3 years and jay been 2 - its just a crazy show - you really gotta listen to it to understand it...

BLAKMARKET.NET: Smooth... DJs talk and people talk... and what I'm hearing is that you're the go to guy when it comes to rocking a party? How does that 
feel to be recognized by your peers and fans?

Smooth Denali: its alway cool - I like playing for people - i like the reaction of hitting music and getting that oooohhhh out the crowd ...

BLAKMARKET.NET: How do you prepare for a party?

Smooth Denali: i dont anymore - SERATO - changed all that - i try to wing it as much as possible so you don't get caught up in playing all the same stuff all the time - i try to incorporate old with the new and anything inbetween 
- im trying to figure out a way to play Shout by Otis Redding from the animal house movie - when i figure that out imma have people WiLDIN OUT _ on the dance floor WATCH!!! ..hehehehe

BLAKMARKET.NET: Wow! I'm really starting to realize you're pretty well rounded. How do 
you juggle your personal life, your family life with mixtapes, radio, graphics and all?

Smooth Denali: just gotta do it -
I have a wifey that understands the game and understand the hustle - she very supportive and you just gotta make time for your kids - no matter what - even if its for 15 20 minutes a day - spend time with them cuz they grow up fast ....

BLAKMARKET.NET: OH... I'm also hearing you're doing covers & graphics now. How long have 
you been doing that and how did you get involve with graphics?

Smooth Denali: I just start this year to be honest with you - I've alway liked graphics but just never had the time - but I alway had an ace in the pocket since 
RODINI of MAXIMUM GRAFX (5x nominated - 3x JUSTO AWARD winner for best GRFX) was and is my HOMIE - so he just started showing me shit and from 
there on I just been doing ever since - nothing crazy but I'm starting 
to build up a little clientele - and its something I can do from home 
and can be wit the fam....

BLAKMARKET.NET: You also make beats... Is that something you're pursuing and when is the 
last time you made a track?

Smooth Denali: I've own Street Funk Recording studios for 7 years nowI've alway been into music and making music but lately I haven't had any 
time. I haven't done anything recently but I'm about to get back into it - I just got a plug to work on MARIO's new single and do a remix so - hopefully Imma start to get that in

BLAKMARKET.NET: Now, with everything that's been circulating...how do you feel about the mixtape game?

Smooth Denali: It sucks to be honest - the bullshit music is killing the game and hip 
hop in general - but for me - I have built a strong enough catalog that I don't have to drop and still move units which was my intentions in the first place

BLAKMARKET.NET: Any advice for those young ones trying to follow in your footstep?

Smooth Denali: DON'T FOLLOW IN MY FOOTSTEPS - do YOU!!! ... find the knack that you good at and run with that - thats the main thing

BLAKMARKET.NET: Any last words?

Smooth Denali: people ask me if Im ever gonna run outta old school shit - to answer 
that - NEVER!!!! I have atleast 20 cds in the wings waiting to drop - im here and im staying!!

Blakmarket.net: DJ Chuck T, Please tell the people of Blakmarket.net who you are and how long you've been in the game?

DJ Chuck T: Damn…that’s a hard question (laughs)! I’m the one and only “Carolina King” DJ Chuck T! Aka “The hottest DJ south of the muthaf**kin’ Mason Dixon Line”, AKA “The Lord and Savior Of Southern Mix tapes”, AKA “Mr. Publicity”, AKA “I Got More Awards In My Mama House Then You’re High School Trophy Case”, AKA….I Could go on and but I think I’m going to stop right there because your readers should get the picture by now. If people don’t know who I am by now then they’ve been living under a rock for the last 2 years. When it comes to southern mix tapes, I’m the person you have to come see if you’re trying to get hot. I’m relatively new to the game, but I’ve been involved with music for quite some time now. I’ve been doing mix tapes for about 4 1/2 years strong now. Before that I was a rapper and I’ve worked as an Urban Music consultant for a local record chain for about the last 4 years also. All of that has contributed to me being successful and I consider all of that being part of the “game”.

Blakmarket.net:  Why do they call you Mr. Publicity?

DJ Chuck T:  Honestly, I was one of the first DJs to really go out and “SEEK” press. I blew up a lot of the shit that these dudes are brag about now. Being in Ozone Magazine, MTV Mix Tape Mondays, etc., I’m the one who made most of that shit famous. I wasn’t the first DJ to do a lot of stuff, but I can say that when it came to getting press and publicity, I’m definitely am one of the first to really made if famous to be…well…FAMOUS! No matter how big or small the publication or media outlet I did an interview for, I made it seem HUGE. No matter how big or small the award was that I one, I made it seem HUGE. People used to come to me for interviews when they started new magazines or new media websites just so they could gain press off of me. That’s what let me know I was really bigger than I thought. I mean….think about it! Since when did a press/media outlet come to a DJ for press and promotion?? It’s supposed to be the other way around, right? But I used to cop like 1,000 magazines from these people and put them out with my mix tapes or send out e-mail blasts for these online media outlets to promote my interviews so it was a mutual benefit to both of us. I support anyone who supports me so giving me press was beneficial to them also. All this shit you see these DJs doing now as far as the media and shit, was sparked by me. Everyone used to say “A DJ speaks with his hands, not with his mouth”, I totally went against that shit. The person who started that was probably a rapper or club promoter who was scared his DJ was going to be more famous then him or his venue and wanted to keep paying him $200.00-$300.00 a show.

Blakmarket.net: I've notice that you are consistently dropping 3 to 4 CDs  every few weeks or so... What drives and motivates you?

DJ Chuck T:  That’s and easy question too. Money and power motivates me. I’m not about to get up here and lie and shit like a lot of other DJs who “pretend” to act like they want to save the world or save the music industry. If you want to save something them join the muthaf**king Peace Corps. or the Red Cross of something! I’m trying to control this game and be like Jimmy Iovine or Alan Grunblatt or whatever his name is. Fuck being like Jay-Z, Puffy or 50 Cent. They don’t control their own destinies. They make small change compared to the people at the top of the food chain. Don’t get me wrong, I love music and I love making mix tapes, but If there wasn’t any money in this game I’d probably just burn some music on a CD and play it in my whip and call it a day. I became a mix tape DJ to support my rap career and put my music out there. DJs in my city weren’t showing me any love…AT ALL! I had songs with Pastor Troy, Eightball & MJG and a ton of other artists in the south who were hot at the time, and people wanted all kinds of crazy money and crazy demands so I said “F**k yall sorry ass niggas. I’m not giving anybody that much money to play a damn record. Yall can suck my d**k!” I started downloading music off of Napster and putting my own music with it and started selling them on the street. I grinded everyday all day and eventually other rappers started coming to me to get on my mix tapes. Next thing I know, I’m getting so much money I said “Fuck going to the studio and spending money. This rap shit can go to hell.  I’m about to stay out here on the block and make this mix tape money!”  There were too many rappers in the game anyway. The world can stand to lose a rapper or two. Then I started getting calls to do parties and I learned how to use turntables because I hated missing that money. I also felt like if I was going to call myself a DJ I had to learn how to use turntables just out of pure respect for the culture. Plus, I was lying in all of my raps. I’ve never killed a cop or pimped a hoe. I’ve never sold 50 Kilos of cocaine or done a bid, so why rap about it like I really did do it. Some people can talk that fake shit and be satisfied, me, I have to keep it real 24/7 or my conscience will eat at me. I just can’t be fake. It’s not in my nature or how I was raised.

Blakmarket.net: Do feel like it's better to drop that many tapes consistently or one or 
two every now and then?

DJ Chuck T:  Mane…the music tells me when to drop and how many CDs to drop. If there’s enough new music for 50 tapes then I’ll drop 50. If it’s scarce out in the streets, then I’ll fall back and only drop what I can. I also drop a variety of different types of mix tapes so dropping a lot of tapes isn’t hard to do at all. I do everything from R&B to Top 40 CDs so I keep everyone happy. A lot of people go directly to my site to cop CDs because they can get everything there. No need to go anywhere else. DJ Chuck T supplies it all out here in these streets.

Blakmarket.net: I must say you're always involved in some sort of controversy and you 
always seem to tackle projetcs that are filled with up and coming 
artist- Now, is that what defines who Chuck T is?

DJ Chuck T:  Yeah…pretty much. I still feel the pain of the indie rapper trying to get on or the newly signed artist trying to fight to become a priority at a label that won’t seem to get off the “superstar” rappers dick. I try my best to look out of the new artists, but at the end of the day I can’t save everyone. I look at a lot of rappers and see myself. You have to remember that’s why I am who I am today so it’s hard for me not to look out for them. I love these niggas. They are me and I am them. It’s my duty to show them love no matter what. Also, I hate to say it, but my career was pretty much built off of conflict and controversy. But one thing I can really say is that nothing was thought up or manufactured. Nothing was done for publicity. If I really didn’t like someone then we were really going to fight when we saw each other. If I legitimately had a problem with someone then it was a real problem and nothing simple like a lot of these other “beefs” you see nowadays. The hip-hop world is becoming soft. Everyone is too sensitive nowadays and ready to cry and fight over nothing at all. It’s starting to make me think that all these “hardcore” rappers and djs are really just homo. They’re really fairys and simps. A nigga don’t dap you up and you diss him and want to fight him? C’mon mane….how about just blow up and make that nigga mad by not working with him over that? How about just saying “Oh well, fuck that nigga. He ain’t my friend anyway,” and keep it moving. People want to fight you and diss you nowadays over dumb shit.

Blakmarket.net: You started out as a rapper... how long did that chapter of your career last and what made you become a DJ?

DJ Chuck T:  It lasted probably about 3 good years. I dropped an album that sold about 1500 units in my area and we were in talks with Sony/Epic, but things fell apart. My brothers owned the record label that I was on and when they got locked up my “endless cash flow” ended (laughs). I was left with huge tabs at a lot of studios but I also had a stockpile of good music too. I started making the mix tapes as a means of income and exposure and once I had everything paid off, I lost interest really. I was doing so well off of mix tapes that rapping wasn’t a priority and dropping mix tapes became my life.

Blakmarket.net: Nowadays, do you feel like it's harder to break artist with mixtapes?

DJ Chuck T:  Well…it all depends on your definition of “breaking an artist”. If you mean an artist having a Top 10 hit single and selling 500,000 units then it’s hard. Most of the people who perform well on mix tapes and on the mix tape circuit are street dudes and aren’t really capable or making the type of music radio stations and video shows like to play. Look at southern artists like Trae, Tum Tum, Brisco, Kinfolk Kia Shine, Gorialla Zoe, Wes Fif, Spark Dawg, 334 Mobb, Magno, and Attitude. Then look at east coast artists like Grafh, Red Café, Maino, St. Laz, Nazarine, Stack Bundles (R.I.P), Gravy, and Storm P. They’re major successes on the mix tape circuit, but as far as commercial success or major fame, it’s damn near non-existent. They too hood for the radio or TV. Even Plies had to switch up and go with a radio friendly single after 2 of his singles were too “street” for the mainstream market. If breaking an artist means getting him a deal, then it’s not that hard at all. Most deals are given to artists that perform well on a street level or have made a name for themselves off of mix tapes. The answer really lies in what your definition of “breaking” is.

Blakmarket.net: How does anyone approach you to host a CD, play their song or simply 
collaborate with you?

DJ Chuck T:  Mane, artists have to do something to make themselves stand out. Too many artists look and sound the same. If you’re not original then why would I want to play you? Also, a lot of these indie aren’t consistent. If you can’t record a new song for every tape I put out then don’t even call me. A lot of artists are lazy. Being on one mixtape isn’t going to get you anywhere. Getting 1 song on 50 mix tapes isn’t going to get you anywhere. You have to consistently put new hot material and stay on numerous tapes before anyone will even give you a decent listen. Once all of that is taken care of then you have to support my movement. I’m not out here grinding so you can get a deal and forget I exist. Or get a few hundred thousand from a label off of my work and the exposure I give you and think taking me on the road with your ass is an even pay off. I make artists by 100 copies or the tape I put them on at a wholesale rate. I need you to work in the street with me. I need you to push me just as hard as I’m pushing you. If I can get my black ass out in the street and slang mix tapes then I need your ass out there doing the same thing. If an artists can’t do that then he may as well not even call me.

Blakmarket.net:  Why are so many artist getting deals but are not dropping albums?

DJ Chuck T:  Cause they’re lying to these labels about their movement. They’re paying to get on DJs tapes and they’re paying for spins at radio stations and paying to open up for these major artists and their music is still trash or they have a poor work ethic. That’s what happens in most cases. In other cases they’re just too damn happy to get signed and forget to read horrible stipulations that are in the contact and then they want to hold out and not deliver their album. In some cases, it’s the label trying to change an artist into something he’s not and the artist won’t budge, but that’s rare. If a label signs you then they want the person they signed, not someone else. These rappers better get it together. I used to think it was the labels fault rappers were getting dicked until I started working with a lot of newly signed rappers and saw that it’s mostly their fault. If I put a contract in front of you for $500,000.00 and you sign it then you’re going to do what the f**k I tell you to do. If not, then you shouldn’t have singed the damn deal. Then they turnaround and want to diss the label like that’s going to get them out the deal or get them to drop the album (laughs).

Blakmarket.net:  Are there any signed/ unsigned artist(s) you would love to do a tape 
with?

DJ Chuck T:  Mane, now that’s a hard question. I try not to do artist tapes unless I really ride with someone. Most of the artists tapes I’ve done have been with artists who I fuck with one a personal level and ride for me like I ride for them. And let’s just be honest, not a lot of artists really give a fuck about DJs. They just want you to play their music and make them hot. I just do what comes to me really. I don’t really plan. Just being honest…Real Talk!

Blakmarket.net:  For any particular reason, has there been a time you had to turn down a 
project? If so, why?

DJ Chuck T:  Ummmm…I turned down a Plies mix tape that was going to be huge. My man Alex from Slip-N-Slide hit me up and told me Plies wanted me to do his official mix tape and I told them I’d have to have signed paperwork granting me clearances. It was right after the DJ Drama situation and I wasn’t sure if homie had gotten fucked up because the tapes he was doing were all artist based tapes or if it was just because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also, I was fam with Blood Raw and him and Plies have a well known beef with each other. I ride with my fam to the death and I knew it would’ve caused problems so I just left it alone one the heat had died down and I knew Drama had just taken the fall for no particular reason. It would’ve been huge because his single was just really starting to bubble and I was going to get all exclusive music. That also would’ve been the tape he took on the road with him for his album promo. In the end I missed out on a good opportunity because Blood Raw in no longer part of our family. He and I are still cool and we still fuck with each other but it’s not like it was back then. I wouldn’t turn down a project for him if I was approached now.

Blakmarket.net:  What has been your most memorable tape thus far?

DJ Chuck T:  I got to say it was my CD with Young City AKA Chopper from Making The Band. He was down in Charleston with me and it was a very “eventful” experience to say the least. I’m not even going into detail over that situation because we saw each other at the Ozone Awards and squashed the beef but that tape and the circumstances surrounding it will NEVER leave my memory. Damn….what a fuckin’ week that was.

Blakmarket.net:  Where do you see the future of this mixtape industry?

DJ Chuck T:  Its going to  be dead in a few years. We’re too powerful and we mean too much to the industry so now they’re trying to “control” what we do. And just like any other part of hip-hop that corporate America has stepped into and controlled its going to kill it. The only way to save the game is for us to run out the fake ass mix tape DJs who have no morals and are nothing more than album rapists and bootleggers. Bu that’s just the first step, from there we have to unionize and let the labels know that we’re one tight unit and show them they’re at our mercy, not vice versa. We have to keep this thing legit and keep it street. We have to use it for its intended purpose and not for money making schemes or quick come up. No matter how much money I’ve made or how much I consider this mix tape game as a “business”, I’ve never abused or misused the game. I always treat what I do with respect.

Blakmarket.net:  Who and what is exactly Noizemob?

DJ Chuck T:  We’re a DJ team of about 25 DJs whose main focus on mix tapes. Most DJ crews focus or radio but we understand that the streets are the most important part of the game and that’s where the talent is developed at. We promote and break artist thru the mix tape circuit and we also help break DJs also. We have a nice system set up for our members as to where you get out of it what you put into it. If you want it to work for you then the blueprint is there. If you’re a lazy hustler just trying to get on, then you fail….QUICKLY!

Blakmarket.net:  We know that you're heavy in the mixtape game... are you just as popular 
in the club scene?

DJ Chuck T:  Nope, but I’m trying to change all of that. I just did 2 parties today and I’m on the road typing this interview as I’m on my way to my 3rd event. Shit is crazy! I used to wonder why a lot of mixtape DJs didn’t do parties and now I see why…the music is TOTALLY different. It’s hard to keep up with both the streets and mainstream radio. I played the new Yung Joc “Bottle Poppin’” in the club earlier and niggas looked at me like I was crazy. Everyone left the dance floor. That’s a hot ass record, but nobody knew it. I’ve had it for about a month now but radio isn’t playing it so the clubs don’t want it. I played “Hood Nigga” by Gorilla Zoe and niggas went wild. That record is old as hell to me. I just have a hard time adjusting. I’ll get it down soon. It’s just hard right now because I’m trying to get used to doing parites again after not really doing too many of them for the last 2 years. I’ve been on my mixtape grind so heavy I wasn’t really concerned about parties. Now that I’m getting $1,000 per party I’m damn sure trying to get back right on da turntables (laughs).

Blakmarket.net:  I've always been a supporter of your CDs but it seems as if everyone else jumped on the Chuck wagon since that situation with the RIAA a few years back- would you say that's the case?

DJ Chuck T:  Yeah…I appreciate that too. A lot of people looked at me kind of fucked up after that situation and didn’t deal with me, but you and Meena held me down. Yall kept it 100 with me when others didn’t really want to come near me. But it only made me stronger and made me work harder. I took an “L” for this game and people looked at me like I was an outcast or something. It was like I had Aids. But then Drama got knocked and it was like niggas were ready to add a new chapter to the Bible for him or something. Everyone starts calling me for advice and to do interviews about his situation and these were the same people running stories about my situation being fake and trying to say I called the RIAA on myself for publicity and shit. It was weird, but that’s just the way the world works. Hey, shit happens, all you can do it live with it and grin and bear it. I used it as fuel. I worked harder to show people that they gave up on someone who they should’ve stood behind. Now that I’m pretty prominent people are on my dick and I don’t mind. There’s enough room on my dick for everyone (laughs), but I know who’s on my dick and who genuinely has my back. There’s a huge difference.

Blakmarket.net:  What should your fans be expecting from you in the years to come?

DJ Chuck T:  My fans can look for me to make the transition from Mixtape DJ to record label executive. I’m from the Carolinas and we have a lot of talent down here that will never make it if I don’t do something about it. I’m about to Master P this Carolina shit. Just watch! You have people in SC who can’t get deals and people in NC who get deals on the regular basis and get dropped by their labels shortly there after. These labels don’t know what to do with us and they frankly could care less. I know the formula, I’ve built my connections and contacts, and I know what it takes for an artist to break on a mainstream basis. I realize I’ll never be respected until I do something for own people. I work with so many artists from other areas and have gained so much knowledge from being in other markets that now its time for me to bring it home. To all you Carolina people reading this interview I want you to know that you King is back. I’ve been fighting battles out here in this game for us for the last 4 years and It may have seemed like I wasn’t going to return, but I’m back!!!

Blakmarket.net:  What advice would you have for a DJ/Artist that's still wet behind the 
ears?

DJ Chuck T:  First and foremost, realize that this is a business. Hip-Hop is a billion dollar industry so you have to treat it like that. You can’t half-step or do anything partially. You have to attack it but still come at the game with finesse. You have to realize that you can’t operate it like you operate business on the streets. You have to be professional or have someone else handle the business aspect of it for you. You also have to realize the importance of building a strong team and delegating duties. And last but not least, this game is full of snakes, fakes, sharks, and predators. Stay on point and make sure you pick your partners and business associates correctly. There are no friends in the business. If you have friends, keep them AWAY!

BLAKMARKET.NET: You are originally from St. Louis and moved to NYC to work for
Cinematic Music Group- What was the transition like?

THE EMPIRE: Crazy it was like walking your whole life and then just all of a
sudden you are sprinting. New York is a hard place to
live at...

BLAKMARKET.NET: How did you link up with Big Mike?

THE EMPIRE: Mike and I met a while ago but never really spoke like that. Working at Cinematic we had a new group by the name of
smoke and numbers and I thought who else to host there cd but Mike- soI contacted him and set that whole deal up. Off that me and mike started to build and it just grew to what it is now.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Why the separation of Evil Empire and is there a chance you guys can
settle your differences?

THE EMPIRE: Man its hard to be in a group... doesn't it seem like they all break up. We settled our differences but i'll never do anything with them.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Please explain how The Drought series came about?

THE EMPIRE: Man it seems like I always get new wayne music before anyone else. So why not do an all wayne cd-  I went off his name The Drought and created The Drought Is Over

BLAKMARKET.NET: Aside from The Drought , what tapes have been most memorable thus far?

THE EMPIRE: Just my southern slang series.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Is there tension with Weezy's camp because you leaked those songs?

THE EMPIRE: Not sure, I spoke to them after Drought Is Over Pt 2 and  haven't heard from them since

BLAKMARKET.NET: How do you feel about the Mixtape Industry and its future?

THE EMPIRE: Everyone is talking about how it is dead... this and that. Im doing good enjoying it. It's going more of a digital route but isnt everything?

BLAKMARKET.NET: I read somewhere where you said it's up to the Artist to keep the game
alive… Don't you think DJs should share that responsibility as well?

THE EMPIRE: The DJ can't because were not the ones making the music!

BLAKMARKET.NET: Can you tell us about the first Mixtape you ever released and the difference between your tapes then and now?

THE EMPIRE: Evil Empire Roc Royality that is the only east coast tape I ever droped. It had mad exclusives on there though- so I guess nothing has changed

BLAKMARKET.NET: What can The Empire's fan expect every time you drop a CD?

THE EMPIRE: The newest music first. Im still going after the real exclusives,  just not depending on what leaks on the internet.

BLAKMARKET.NET: So what are your plans for the immediate and distant future?

THE EMPIRE: Keep doing what I am doing, I hope I can make it bigger- I just like having the people that get my cds to love them and always expect the best

BLAKMARKET.NET: Welcome to Blakmarket.net DJ Smallz… You probably don't need any introduction, but please tell the people who you are, what you do and how long you've been in the game? You can start by telling us about some of your awards and accolades…

DJ Smallz: DJ Smallz is a jack of all trades. I'm a DJ, A&R, Innovator, Entrepreneur, Hustler and Trend Setter. I put 110% into anything I touch and I work 25 hours a day, 8 days a week 366 days a year!!! I eat, sleep and sh*t this southern hip hop music and I'm extremely blessed every day to wake up and do what I love to do - DJ.

BLAKMARKET.NET: You've always had a passion for music any particular reason why music with a southern influence?

DJ Smallz:  Well, first I'm from the South. I was born overseas in Japan when my father was stationed in the military. I moved to Florida when I was 3 years old and been here ever since. I'm 22 years old now and presently represent Tampa, Fl. The majority of hip hop music I listened to was southern hip hop music, so naturally when it came time
to DJ i would break the newest and hottest southern hip hop music.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Do you strictly stay with mix tapes or are you up in the clubs or on the radio?

DJ Smallz: Of course!!! People know me for the Southern Smoke mixtapes, breaking new music and artists, but we also break new music and artists through
Southern Smoke Partiess across the U.S. and overseas and i currently have an exclusively syndicated show Southern Smoke Radio through Sirius Satellite Radio & Dish Network every Thursday night from
midnight to 2am.

BLAKMARKET.NET: How did the Sirius Satellite opportunity come about?

DJ Smallz: They got at me after they heard my crazy buzz in the streets for breaking new music and new artists. I got with Sirius when they first started, so I've really been with them from the beginning... shout-out to all my weekly Sirius listeners... millions!

BLAKMARKET.NET: Can you tell us about the first CD you ever released?

DJ Smallz:  My head was really into school. I got a scholarship to college and everything. I was DJin' as a hobby ever since middle school and I was ready to get my club game poppin’ in high school. The first southern smoke CD was really a demo for me to get into clubs. It was the hottest southern music put together, mixed by me. People passed the CD around in high school and clubs, word of mouth spread and one thing led to another. That's how the southern smoke movement really began.

BLAKMARKET.NET: You've had more than a handful of big named artists on your mix tapes- Which CD would you say is most memorable and are there any artists you're looking to work with?

DJ Smallz:  Like I said earlier, it all began as a demo CD to get me into the local club circuit. Volume one wasn't hosted by any one, but the first major host though was on volume 6 with Uncle Luke of the 2 Live Crew. Uncle Luke is a legend and the reason why albums today carry the parental advisory sticker - he fought for his lyrics! He never hosted a mixtape before and I got him out to do it and he never did another one. I've got a lot of history with my hosts. T.I. an C-Murder hosted a Southern Smoke behind bars. When Pimp C of UGK got out of jail, I was the only CD he hosted. Master P never hosted anyone's either except for Southern Smoke as well.

BLAKMARKET.NET: How important have mix tapes been to DJ Smallz?

DJ Smallz: Extremely important! I've helped break some major artists through the brand including artists such as Chamillionaire, David Banner, Plies and more. My biggest break was with Chamillionaire. I had him host Southern Smoke 7 three years ago. Last year him and T.I. were the only artists to go platinum. Matter of fact, he won a grammy, MTV award and bet award as well as selling more than 2 million ringtones. It was bananas!

BLAKMARKET.NET: What can I expect when I put a Smallz CD in my changer?

DJ Smallz: You can expect the best music the south has to offer. Whenever you see that Smallz stamp of approval you can expect quality music. I stand behind everything I co-sign and I'm not afraid to break new music and new artists. If you need your artist or music broken holla

BLAKMARKET.NET: A lot of customers have asked about your Southern Smoke series… Now, why the change in format?

DJ Smallz: I've been taking a break with the Southern Smoke series to concentrate on my commercial album which is due out Summer 2008. Look for
Southern Smoke 30 hosted by Lil' Wayne dropping this thanksgiving!

BLAKMARKET.NET: Where do you see mix tapes going right now, since everyone is worried about the state of it?

DJ Smallz: Mixtapes are immortal. They are a necessity for the music industry to survive. They are the biggest keys to street and grass roots promotion. Major multi-platinum artists such as 50 Cent, Fabolous, Cassidy and Young Jeezy were born through mixtapes, and they continue
to do them because it is so vital to their careers.

BLAKMARKET.NET: On a different note, how long have you actually been producing & do you play any instruments?

DJ Smallz:  I was into percussion before I was djing. I can read music notes and tune music by ear. Percussion and djing was an easy transition for me. I've been producing for the last couple years, but just recently started branding it with my first produced record called "Welcome To The Gunshine State" featuring 30 new artists from my home state of Florida including artists such as Plies, Flo-Rida, Smitty & More.
Since this record came out 2 artists have signed a major label deal (Haitian Fresh to Universal and Treal to Universal Republic) also I've been shopping beats to various labels. I recently sold two beats to The Game's "Black Wallstreet" Compilation.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What equipment do you use and who inspires you?

DJ Smallz: I use some top secret equipment (laughing), but djs turned producers really inspire me, like DJ Green Lantern and Clinton Sparks for example.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  How did you compile 30 artists on the record?

DJ Smallz:  It was extremely hard!!! Man, I'm still sweating just thinking about it! (Laughing)... It was really hard to keep a record of this magnitude from leaking in the streets and making this a real industry surprise. This record is amazing, I'm even going to go all in and call this record a street symphony!!! I recorded over 60 different verses for this record from 60 different artists across the state, and I only released 30 of them so far... the record took 2 months to create and I produced the track myself! It was great to see it finally release during the Ozone awards in Miami this year. I'm representing every hood, county and artist on the grind that’s the "Future of Florida"...
matter of fact, 2 artists that were on the gunshine state record
signed to major deals after we released the record the very next week! Treal from Orlando, FL signed to Universal Republic and Haitian Fresh from Daytona Beach, FL signed to Wyclef Jean's new venture with
Universal called Sak Pase Records... I'm really working right now Florida!!!

BLAKMARKET.NET: Now, Do you still take part in turntable competition?

DJ Smallz: Nah I’m not really into that side of competition. I compete with my mixtapes, club performances and radio show

BLAKMARKET.NET: Please tell us what are SouthPromo.com, Fear Factor Music Group and Southern Smoke TV?

DJ Smallz: SouthPromo.com is my marketing and advertising company that currently handles everything from identity campaigns to product placement for several major companies and products including major and independent record labels, video games, movies and beverages. Fear Factor Music Group breaks new artist and new music. It's a whole marketing campaign from the design of the CD cover to the placement in major chains for independent artists and promotion there after. We've done about 30 campaigns so far this year and 1 artist signed to Jazze Pha's Sho-Nuff Records after our Fear Factor campaign - Willie Joe. BLAKMARKET.NET: What can we expect from your Southern Smoke compilation album?

DJ Smallz:  The south will never be the same after my Southern Smoke compilation drops! We have a ton of new concepts that have never been done before and we have a crazy marketing campaign that’s never been attempted with a dj album of my calibre. We plan to release the first single New Year's Day. Look out for the album to drop Summer 2008.

BLAKMARKET.NET: How was the overall experience on your "Southern Smoke College Tour"?

BLAKMARKET.NET: Welcome to Blakmarket.net DJ Unexpected- please tell the people who you are, what you do and how long you've been in the game? 
 
DJ Unexpected: Peace and Blessings to you and the family.  To put it simply, I'm a fan that happens to DJ.  Above all I'm an obsessed fan of all genres of music; all I do is dig for music, new and old.  I've always been fascinated by the infinite ways sounds can be manipulated and re-interpreted to express emotion.  My main goal is to ensure people have enjoyed and educated themselves upon hearing my work.  I've been DJing since 1994, but have been in the mixtape game for 4 years.  The game is something else, but at the end of the day, I wouldn't trade it for anything.  
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: For those who are not familiar, why do they call you Mr. Intro? And where did you obtain the name Unexpected?
 
DJ Unexpected:  Mixtape fixture/critic Tapemasta (the OG, not part of Tapemasters Inc.) dubbed me that after hearing all the scratch intros I did for various mixtapes.  I started doing them primarily for my business partner Kochece, but word spread and the calls started coming in.  I haven't kept a completely accurate record, but there has to be close to 100 done by me out on the streets over the last 4 years.  I've been using the name Unexpected since 1996 while I was in college.  I used to go by Top Secret while still in high school, so the mystery element was always present.  My brother had a comic book lying around one day called "Tales of the Unexpected" and it struck me.  Plus people tell me "I don't look like a DJ", whatever that means (laughs), so I thought it fit me.  Plus life is Unexpected if you think about it long enough...
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  What’s your creative process like when tackling an “Intro”?
 
DJ Unexpected:  It's not as easy as some people may think.  I can literally sit in the studio for hours looking for a certain way a word is pronounced or a record saying such and such. I've woken up in the middle of the night with an idea for an intro or suddenly remembered a record saying a name/phrase I needed.  But I pride myself on having a good memory, so most of it comes without too much difficulty.  Some people ask me, "how do you sleep with all that music in your head?".  I tell them I don't, hence the bags under my eyes (laughs).  To give you an idea, I did one recently for award winning graphic designer Miami Kaos for his myspace page and layout site.  The main theme revolved around God and dealing with those envious of you.  So I went and grabbed dialog from Pulp Fiction (the part where Samuel L. Jackson quotes Bible scripture), cut Jay-Z lines from Lucifer, Nas lines from Hate Me Now (blame God, he blew breath in my lungs) etc. Most of it came to me on the spot and like I said most of the lines are from my memory so I know which records to pull out of the crates.  Some people wouldn't believe it can take 6 hours to do 1-1/2 minute intro.  Well believe it, it does happen quite often.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  Please tell us about some of your awards and accolades?
 
DJ Unexpected:  I haven't received any awards as far as mixtapes yet, but regarding accolades, there's MTV Mixtape Mondays, 3 Justo Nominations in 2006 (Best Blends, Best Underground and Best Collaboration with Mick Boogie on Director's Cut), DJed on Sirius Shade 45 on Labor Day Weeknd (Rep Yo Set), interviews in random publications and the support I get from the fans worldwide who enjoy what I do.  It's greatly appreciated!
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Who are the DJs you looked up to when you were coming up?
 
DJ Unexpected:  How much time do you have? (laughs) The obligatory pioneers (God bless them for changing my life) of course for introducing me to great music.  As far as mixtapes go, there's Legendary DJ Showtime, D-Demo, DJ Chill Will FTE (my idol for blend cds),  Kid Capri, Doo-Wop, Double R and G Bo The Pro, Triple C, Ron G, Brucie B, S&S, Craig G to name a few.  Then you have the turntablists like Q-Bert, X Men, Beat Junkies etc.  All of them shaped me into the man answering these questions. 
 
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: I read your bio and it seems like you've always had a passion for music any particular reason why Hip Hop?
 
DJ Unexpected:  I love it beyond measure.  Hip Hop just struck me with the way you can take something minimal (i.e. a loop off a record) and make a whole new song out of it.  The scratches, the lyrics all in rhythm; it's hard to explain to an outsider.  Hip Hop is about doing what you feel from the heart- there are no restrictions.  By the way, you can blame my father for introducing me to Hip Hop in 1984 with the Fat Boys' 1st album.  Stick 'Em is one of my favorite songs of all time.  It's so minimal yet so raw, way harder than your favorite studio gangster.  The samples, the drums; man I could go on forever!   
 
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Do you strictly stay with mix tapes or are you up in the clubs or on the radio?
 
DJ Unexpected:  At the moment, my focus is on mixtapes.  I do have to get back into the club scene; I'll admit it's not my strongest point.  I've been told I have a voice for radio.  That, or phone sex (laughs), so I'd like to try that one day.  I stick with the mixtapes because there are no limitations.  It's a blank canvas; it's up to you to paint it.  I've been told on more than one occasion that my mind's a mixtape waiting to happen!
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: What equipment (s) do you use?
 
DJ Unexpected:  Right now, 2 Technics 1200s, Stanton SK6F mixer, 1 CDJ, mixing board, SP-1200, Akai S-950, and an ADAT to record tracks.  It may be primitive to some, but remember, all of my cds are done on that equipment.  The best instrument is my brain as DJ Dub Floyd put it.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Can you tell us about the first mixtape you released?
 
DJ Unexpected: Big Daddy Kane Vs. Jay-Z was the first mixtape I officially released on January 3, 2004.  I didn't know jack about the game or the process- all I had was ambition and a great concept courtesy of my partner Kochece.  It celebrated 2 of Hip Hop's biggest icons and their similarites in musicianship, even though they're years apart as far as notoriety is concerned.  So I did the cd to show the audience young and old how this music has evolved and how the newer generation should acknowledge the ones before them for their hard work while they themselves are keeping the game moving.  It has since be re-issued as Big Daddy Kane and Jay-Z: Under The Influence, containing remixes and rare tracks.
 
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Which Mixtape(s) would you say is most and least memorable? And why?
 
DJ Unexpected:  I try and make all of my catalog memorable to fans, but of course there's some I like more than others.  Conceptually speaking, Raw & Uncut- The Willie Bryant Story is one of the greatest mixtapes EVER made to me.  I know that sounds conceited, but I have yet to hear one that is basically a biography/movie told in mixtape form.  Highly slept on, but I'm waiting to re issue it once my name gets out more.  The series I'll always be known for is Look What I Found, which covers breaks/samples used to create some of Hip Hop's best songs.  It always amazes me how producers can flip beats like that and create something new.  
 
As far as least memorable, one cd that could've been way better was Harlem Nights with Kochece.  The final version wasn't put together by me, but the whole thing is one I would definitely like to do over one day. It was one of the early cds about some notorious rappers from Harlem (Big L RIP, Cam'ron, Ma$e etc.) but it needs to get done one day properly...
 
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: What can I expect to hear when I put an Unexpected CD in my changer?
 
DJ Unexpected:  Hopefully a great listening experience.  I always work hard and constantly think of ways to outdo myself as far as presenting something new for the fans.  If you're a real Hip Hop buff, you'll notice a few things I tend to throw in there, such as re-creating a certain scratch or something that was made famous by a certain record.  An inside joke, if you will.  I just want people to enjoy themselves when listening to me.  I talk with my hands, and they have a whole lot to say...
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Since everyone is worried about the state of mixtape, where do you see the game in the next couple of years?
 
DJ Unexpected:  The game is basically at a standstill right now.  It's screaming for a change, but whether or not people will be open to accept that change is another story.  People still fail to realize it's all recycled material.  Take the artist mixtapes for example.  Lil' Wayne is everywhere right now, but that will eventually die out.  In 2003-2004 it was G- Unit, Dipset, D- Block etc. Next year it will be someone else.  It's nothing new if you really pay attention.  My biggest complaint is there's no balance.  God forbid you do something outside the box.  Sites will front, stores will most likely pass on it and forget about trying to hit the Africans off with it! (laughs) I'm sure it will come back around, but it can't come soon enough for me.  If you're a fan and love the music that much, you can weather the storm.  I love the music, but F THE MIXTAPE GAME/INDUSTRY RIGHT NOW!
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: I've noticed that you do not consistently release CDs. Any particular reason why? And how do you feel about DJs who drop 4 titles at once every other week or so? 
 
DJ Unexpected:  I do them when they're necessary to me, especially with creative projects.  If I'm not inspired, it won't happen.  I refuse to hurry a product just keep the name on the first row of a website.  If my heart's not in it, forget it.  Sorry to keep fans waiting, but that's how I am.  I am working on being a little more consistent though, while retaining the traits you've come to appreciate from me.  As far as "DJ's (Downloading Jockeys) dropping 988 titles a week, hey, they're trying to collect whatever pennies there are out here. I'm not a big fan of it, but in all fairness, those days of going out in the streets with 1 title are over.  Dudes will say "what else do you have" and if you don't have an answer they deem appropriate, goodbye! So it really is a double-edged sword.
 
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  Since we are still on the topic. Do you feel like it's harder to break artist with mixtapes?
 
DJ Unexpected:  Mainly for the fact that everyone and their mother is doing it, but that's not to say it can't happen.  It definitely is harder now.  You just have to work harder and smarter.  Then you can see who's really built for this and who isn't.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Please tell us who and what is LXG?
 
DJ Unexpected:  The League of eXtraordinary Gentlemen was formed in 2005 with myself, Miami Kaos and Dimez of Rapmullet.com.  It's a collective of DJ's who are trying to make moves in the industry.  I won't sit here with a bunch of cute catch-phrases on how we're going to take over and stuff, but we're looking to make a name for ourselves in the game.  Instead of relying on cliched quotes, we'll let the catalog and work ethic do the talking.  As of this interview, the members are

BLAKMARKET.NET: Are there any signed/ unsigned artist(s) you would love to do a tape with?
 
DJ Unexpected:  That's another area I'd like to explore in greater detail, and I am working on it. Whenever I get the opportunity, I like to work with newer artists who have the talent and work ethic to succeed.  I have done work with Kochece (The Devil Wears Nike), Pay$oz (Brooklyn NY- Cheating On New York, Last Of A Dying Breed), Jokaman (The Next Big Thing Mixtape- Justo's Mixtape Award and Southern Entertainment Award Nominee out of Houston, Texas) to name a few.  There's others I'm in the process of working with such as Geolani (CEO of Team Afficial), Phene (York City/ATL), Remo Da Rapstar (Justo 2006 Winner for Best Underground Artist), Mickey Factz (Flashback Mixtape), and so on.  
 
Regarding signed artists, there's too many, but people like Royce 5'9, Big Daddy Kane, Chino XL, Canibus, 
Bun B, KRS-1, and a few obligatory mainstream artists (Nas, Jay-Z etc.) come to mind.  There's also some reggae artists I'd like to work with and have gotten some dubplates from, which is another way of the DJ supporting the MC.  Artists like Burro Banton, Sizzla, Anthony B, Jigsy King, Admiral Tibet etc. There's really not enough time in a day to do everything I'd like to do.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: What's the next move for DJ Unexpected? What are you doing now?
 
DJ Unexpected:  Come on; if I told you that, I wouldn't be Unexpected, would I? At the moment, I'm working on some new material.  That's all I'll say right now. Hopefully we can continue this interview in the future and I can share some good news with you all.
 
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: What advice do you have for any up and coming artist(s) & /DJ(s)?
 
DJ Unexpected:  All I can say is do it from the heart.  There's plenty of ways to get money, so that shouldn't be the primary source of motivation.  Besides the fact a lot of what you see is trickery.  There's a lot of exaggeration going on with many people in the industry.  So don't worry about what you see, worry about what you don't see. 
And if you do have the passion and talent, don't stop until you make it- even if it kills you.   I say that to myself all the time and there was many a time where I came real close to throwing it all away.  Having a great support group is a definite as well.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Welcome to Blakmarket.net Blazita, tell the people where you rep and how long you been in DJing? You can start by telling us about some of your awards and accolades…
 
DJ BLAZITA: I've been living in Brooklyn the past few years and before that I
lived in PA, Cleveland, and WV. I rep NY the hardest because that's where I'm at now and this is where I got my hold on DJing. I've been DJing for about 6 years now, but have only been doing mixtapes for 2 years. I haven't officially won anything yet, but there's still
time!
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: I read that you use to host freestyle battles. How did that come about and how did you get involved with mixtapes?
 
DJ BLAZITA: Yeah, I used to be a radio personality at Penn State with the "No Doubt Show" and we had MCs come to the station and battle it out on the air. There was this reigning champ from Philly named Venom…dude could spit for like an hour and it would be so entertaining! It was a
lot of fun.
  
DJ BLAZITA: I didn't start doing mixtapes until I came to NY and realized that I had to make a name for myself in order to get where I want to be which is doing more parties and getting on radio. I use mixtapes as promo and I have fun recording mixes. I also try to support new artists when I
can.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: I also read that you battled in a few competitions. Now,  do you still take part in those sort of events?
 
DJ BLAZITA: LOL yeah I participated in the first NYC female DJ battle competition in 2005. It was a good experience, but it made me realize that I enjoy DJing for people at parties and not really battling. It's a good exercise for getting your skills up though!
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Are you also up in the clubs or on the radio?
 
DJ BLAZITA: I do everything. I DJ random parties and I've been on Sirius Radio Hip Hop Nation a few times with the Bash Brothers. I'm still looking for a station to do this talk/ mix show idea that I have…we'll see what happens.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Who are some of the people you opened up for?
 
DJ BLAZITA: I started this DJ battle at Penn State and we brought out HOT 97 DJs each year so I opened for Enuff, Kast One, Mister Cee and Cipha Sounds when they came through. I also DJ with Mickboogie sometimes…he put me on in Cleveland when I was first starting out.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  How do you prepare for shows?
 
DJ BLAZITA: It used to be organizing my crates and now it's organizing my hard drive and downloading new music.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  How often do you brush up on your skills and keep up with the new?
 
DJ BLAZITA: Practicing and keeping up with what's new is a constant thing for me.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  How quickly do things change in your profession?
 
DJ BLAZITA: Things change pretty quick. I think most people could say they didn't
even know me last year. Now I have a Justo nomination this year and I'm on the takeover! What doesn't change is the fact that you need to have skills to gain respect.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  You've been nominated for Best Female Mixtape DJ at the 2008 Justo's Mixtape Awards. Now, how does that sort of recognition
feel and is that your first nomination?
 
DJ BLAZITA: Yes, it's my first nomination. It's great to have made such a big
impact so quickly and get recognized by the industry for the work I put in this year.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Speaking of mixtapes, can you tell us about the first mixtape you ever released?
 
DJ BLAZITA: HAHA the first official mixtape I released was when I participated in the 2005 She's My DJ battle competition. It was called X Rated. I gave it away to the people who attended the event so they could hear how I DJ outside of the battle. 
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: What can the fans expect to hear from you on a mixtape? Are you putting out blends, straight exclusives or displaying your 
skills?
 
DJ BLAZITA: People can expect to hear all the hottest music! I don't limit myself to a specific genre because I love so many different types of music. I blend, drop new music, do classic tapes, party tapes, r&b, everything.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: What's your creative process like when putting together a CD?
 
DJ BLAZITA: It's usually about what is inspiring me...what I like spinning. If I hear some new music that I think would be good to get on a cd, I come up with a concept to market
it and go from there.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Can you tell us the type of equipment and/or programs you use?
 
DJ BLAZITA: I use technics turntables and Serato to DJ. When I record I use
audition.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: What tapes have been the most memorable thus far?
 
DJ BLAZITA: I haven't been dropping tapes for that long so they're all still fresh in my memory lol. But one of my favorite tapes I've done so far is Before the Lox with DJ Kasper where we put out songs from Jada and Sheek when they were called the Bomb Squad in the early 90s. My other
favorite cd is Sex & the City part 1 with the real classic intro.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Who are your influences? And who continues to inspire you? Why?
 
DJ BLAZITA: Kid Capri continues to be an inspiration to me…he's the greatest DJ in our history. No one can control a crowd like he does. It's amazing to see a DJ who has it all… skills, mic presence, energy, selection, everything. As far as radio presence, Miss Jones of HOT 97 is my favorite personality…I relate to her on many levels like not being afraid to tell it how it is and create a little controversy for fun here and there.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Who are some of the artist(s)/DJ(s) you've worked with? Are there any artist(s)/DJ(s) you're looking forward to working with?
 
DJ BLAZITA: I'm really looking forward to working with these producers called Vynl Destination that I've known for a while. SO MUCH HEAT!
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: Where do you see mixtapes going right now?  And do you feel like women get the respect they deserve in this industry?
 
DJ BLAZITA: Mixtapes are going to continue to be here for as long as hip hop is. Hopefully we can get back to dj's making MIXES to display their skills and also it's all about marketing at this point because the game is so watered down. 
 
DJ BLAZITA: Women like me who stay on the grind and don't take any BS ultimately will get respect!
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  Being a woman, how do you deal and feel about men and/or women that underestimated you?
 
DJ BLAZITA: I love how people underestimate me…some of those who underestimated me in the past are giving me props now. I like surrounding myself with people who keep it real though and keep pushing me. They might say I'm not capable of something but that makes me work to get it. I've been through a lot and I don't stop until I get what I want.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  Please tell us who are the Hip Hop Sisters and how you got involved with that movement?
 
DJ BLAZITA: The Hip Hop sisters is a group that MC Lyte put together for females in the industry who want to share in the movement and push forward with creating positivity in hip hop. I don't remember how I got involved exactly, but I've been there since it started last year with just a few of us. Now there are hundreds of members across the country and we're launching a web site soon. I'm also going to be the DJ for the official Hip Hop Sisters mixtape.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET: What can your fans expect from you in the immediate and distant future?
 
DJ BLAZITA: Expect more heat in my New York mixtape series…next one hosted by Remy Ma. I'm also working on a few exciting collabos with other DJs and artists. And I'm getting ready to launch a site for women in entertainment who are
interested in networking -  www.imlikeastar.com .
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  Do you have any words for up and coming DJ(s) trying to get in the industry? 
 
DJ BLAZITA: Be consistent. Make sure your skills are tight.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  Finally why  are you  THE HOTTEST CHIC IN THE GAME? And do you have any last words and/or shout outs?
 
DJ BLAZITA: I was given that title 5 yrs ago by my ex lol. He put me on to djing but I carried it with me as a goal. Now that I really am THE HOTTEST CHIC IN THE GAME I'm working on a revision to my AKA. I just wanna say what's up to DJs UMC & Killa Kaos who have been there since day 1. And shout out to Gutta Muzic and Heavy Movement who keep holding my tapes down in the streets.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Superstar Jay, what's going on? Please tell everyone who you are and what it is exactly that you do?

SUPERSTAR JAY: Well if you don’t know they call me 7 day Jay I drop every week. I’m one of the top mixtapes DJs  in the U.S. I won the MTV DJ of the year 2 times, Justos Rookie of the Year, Underground Music DJ of the Year just to name a few and also a mixtape dj that really has DJskills lol.

BLAKMARKET.NET: I read that you had a basketball scholarship a while back, now what school was it for and how did you get into DJing? Any particular reason you stopped playing ball?

SUPERSTAR JAY: Well I attended Buffalo State College, I was suppose to be there to improve my grades and transfer to a better college program for basketball but I got use to it there. Then I started djing parties and also got on the radio in Buffalo and the number one rated hip hop show at my time. Then from there I kind of felt that basketball wasn’t my calling to entertain, I think it was djing.

BLAKMARKET.NET: As a DJ coming up, who where some of your influences and who or what inspires you today?

SUPERSTAR JAY:  I grew under legends like  DJ Ike Love, Boo da Barber, Grandmaster Vic, Kid Capri, DJ Clue , Ron G and just seeing what they did for the mixtape game and the dj game, I always wanted to do it and just being from Queens it was either play sports or doing something in music, I choose both.

BLAKMARKET.NET: How did the Lamar Odom situation come about?

SUPERSTAR JAY: Well the Lamar situation came about kind of crazzy- Joyie at Asylum was working on a deal with Lamar for his label Rich Soil and told Lamar he needed a DJ to heat up the streets and he mention a couple of names and so happen my name came up. I knew Lamar from playing ball in Queens all my life. We actually met at the Rucker the summer before I told him I was doing the DJ thing when I had ask Lamar to host a cd for me at that time. I told him I got the streets on lock. He was like word thats whazup, so when Joyie mention my name he just called me on the phone come to Asylum and its been on ever since with music with the big homie.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Whose idea was the Remy Ma's Shesus Christ project? Did she contact you or was it something you both had in the works?

SUPERSTAR JAY:  Well actually I met Remy doing a show out of town me and her got booked for. The promoter introduced us and she said I like the way you did your thing out there in the party. I was like cool and actually I was cool with her DJ and he told her a little bit about my mixtape grind. I ask her we need to do a cd together. She was like whatever I do freestyles and songs everyday- lets get it together and we meet up and she already was calling herself Shesus Kryst and we thought of an idea how these industry people treat her, and she was like Jay that’s how I feel with this rap game and how females in the industry are treated like the Passion of Christ and we just did the mixtape together and also a dvd. We filmed like 4 videos with these directors Andre Whyte and Rick Cordero and made one of the most sought after mixtape dvd cd.

BLAKMARKET.NET: You're currently signed to Rich Soil. How did that deal come about? And do you have any label mates you've done projects with?

SUPERSTAR JAY: Well yes I’m signed to Rich Soil, got an album coming called Why Not- it’s currently in production now- got a lot of joints with some of your favorite rappers, got keep it quiet right now- but also Ali Vegas is signed to the same label. His album is crazy- should be out in the summer. We actually did a couple of mixtapes, now he dropping another one with drama and then one with me again.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Do you have any artist yourself that you're managing or currently working with?

SUPERSTAR JAY:  Well I’m working with Storm P. He was nominated last year for Justos as Underground Artist of the Year. His work ethic is crazy. He did joints wit 50 Cent, to Remy Ma. You’re going to hear from him soon. We also got a couple labels hollering hard. He’s in L.A. right doing music and filming 2 independent movies. Also Clap Cognac, I deal with him- he tearing down all the NYC shows- you going to see a lot more from him too.

BLAKMARKET.NET: On a different note, say I'm an MC from New York, how do I approach you to get my music heard? What is it going to take for you to play my material on one of your CDs?

SUPERSTAR JAY:  Well that’s a great question- I would think your work ethic has to be strong, have people talking about you,  be  familiar with all these bootleggers; make them aware of you- put money into yourself, get on these dvds- keep dropping mixtapes and try to be everywhere and I’m sure you’ll be on every DJ cd- that’s how you create a buzz.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Do you feel like it's easier nowadays to break an artist(s) with mixtapes?

SUPERSTAR JAY:  Not really cause it’s really about the artist work ethic. The artist got to work harder then you. He has to constantly give you music, go out and start doing big features or connect with different people. This music game is a race and you got to be running as fast as everyone or even running faster.

BLAKMARKET.NET: How important has this mixtape industry been to you?

SUPERSTAR JAY:  It’s very important to me. It made me who I am and it’s also important to all these record labels to break artist,  because the radio has a format of 10 to 15 songs they play a day. So there’s really no room for a upcoming artist to get play or get known. So you have to hit the mixtape circuit hard. Believe me if we didn’t have mixtapes- would we have 50 Cent or would we have known Lil’ Wayne spits like that- no! So the mixtape industry is very important.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Why are so many artists getting signed but are yet to drop albums? Do you think they are lacking anything?

SUPERSTAR JAY:  Yeah they lacking a good record, a good record can change your life; look at Fabolous- dudes was like Fab fell off on the streets. He came with that record with Ne-Yo and it felt like he never left. They say the south is taking over and the east coast is falling off- it’s not that east coast rappers are falling off… they have come with some good records- we never fell off we just need  some good records.

BLAKMARKET.NET: So what advice can you give up and coming DJs and Artists?

SUPERSTAR JAY: I say this grind, as hard as you can- never get discourage- if you feel you good at what you do, one day someone is going to notice it. Grinding is they key right now in music, be aware of your competition big or small and try to be the best at what you do.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Are you involved with any DJ Crew or Organizations? If so, who are you representing?

SUPERSTAR JAY:  I rep Noizemob, that’s my mixtape dj crew- its probably one of the best underrated DJ crews out but that’s why I wanted to get with them and every DJ on there has skills as a DJ. Also I’m down with the Union- the best DJ club team in NYC. You come to N.Y. we run the club scene. So I go the best of both worlds right now holla.

BLAKMARKET.NET: You've done a few tapes with other DJs, mainly DJ Drama. How did you react with his situation a year ago with the RIAA? Who are some other DJs you've done tapes with?

SUPERSTAR JAY:  He’s probably the only one outside my DJ crews that I done a cd with but my partner Big T and I got nominated for the best duo but you know when it comes to that exclusive game I’m of the top contenders.

BLAKMARKET.NET: How do you feel about the mixtape industry and its immediate and distant future?

SUPERSTAR JAY:  I really don’t
feel it has a distant future it just that we need get things right as far as dealing with people who trying to bring it down because when it comes down to it- its for promotional use only and I know the internet is real big but people in the streets don't have the time to download and they  just want to get to the store and get that new mixtape.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What's next for Superstar Jay? What should your fans be expecting from you?

SUPERSTAR JAY:  everything- my ablum Why Not, the Justo awards nominated 5 times- big shout out to the staff at the Justos and rip Justo- if it wasn't for you we wouldn't be recognized for the things we do, Storm P is that next dude also Clap Cognac is doing his thing, I'm trying to get on radio right now got alot of offers.

BLAKMARKET.NET: DJ 2Mello, first of all, thanks for sitting down with us and doing this. Now, please tell Blakmarket.net who you are where you're from?

DJ 2MELLO: Well First of all thanks a lot for having me. My name is DJ 2Mello aka "Mr. Undercover R&B" aka "The R&B Mixtape Boss" aka "The R&B Insider" aka damn that's a lot of aka's!! I'm from Kingston, Jamaica and I currently reside in Baltimore, Maryland

BLAKMARKET.NET: Being born in Kingston, Jamaica when did you actually start DJ'ing? Was this something you always wanted to do?

DJ 2MELLO: : I actually followed sound systems such as King Jammies, Stonelove, and Afrique back in the days. I watched how selectas managed the crowd with the microphone and the potent music. Music has always been a huge part of my life and one of my passions, learning to mix properly and control the crowd with music was something I sought after early in my career. My DJ career didn't officially start until long after I came to the United States.

BLAKMARKET.NET: If you could do a project with one artist, who would that artist be and why?
 
DJ 2MELLO:  wow, I'd have to say Luther Vandross ( R.I.P ). I grew up on his music, awesome vocals, great range and outstanding delivery. In terms of new artists, I'd have to go with Chris Brown, that kid is amazing.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  What's your favorite mixtape to date that you've put out? What would you say is the least memorable?

DJ 2MELLO:  My favorite mixtape to date is "Undercover R&B - Fuck What You Heard I Run this R&B Shit" ( Laughs ). It was the mixtape that I think boosted my career to the next level. My least memorable mixtape was "Law and Order - Take 2" because I rushed it and didn't put my heart and soul into it. It could've been a lot better in my opinion.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What makes a 2Mello mixtape stand out? What can I expect to hear when I place one of your Cds in my changer?

DJ 2MELLO:  If there's one thing people know about me its that I play what I feel. The music I play is selected from tracks that make me go hmmm, to paraphrase Arsenio Hall. I also choose not to limit the scope of the music and play only signed artists. I was taught that the business of DJ'ing consists of finding good artists who make good music and playing said music. The intention with every DJ 2mello release is to introduce new music to the masses, to break records. I consider that to be the most important part of my job as a mixtape DJ, breaking new artists.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  What would you say are the differences- if any between your tapes then and now?

DJ 2MELLO:  There aren't any differences at all. I still do the same thing now as when i started in the mixtape game in 2006.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Speaking of mixtapes, how do you feel about the RIAA?

DJ 2MELLO:  Can I say "UGHH"? Lets go with a more intelligent response. I feel like the RIAA continues with its sordid efforts to downplay what the DJ does, which is bring marketability to artists thru spinning their music. If the DJ doesn't play the music for the people how else will they hear it? Is the DJ supposed to starve or go hungry from putting together a cd for said artists? Why should they? Case in point, who made Lil Wayne hot in the streets, DJ Drama. If there was no DJ Drama would Lil Wayne be this hot? I personally don't think so. For every D-Block there's a Big Mike, for every 50 Cent there's a Whoo Kid. I can go on and on.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What piece of equipment can't you live without?

DJ 2MELLO:  Right now it would most definitely be Rane Serato Scratch Live. ( Laughs ) If that isn't God's gift to the DJ then I don't know what is!!

BLAKMARKET.NET: Overall, on a scale of 1-10, where would you rate your music career?

DJ 2MELLO: Right Now I'd rate my music career at a 7. I attained all the goals I set out to achieve in 2007 and 2008 is shaping up to be a fantastic year with one major accomplishment to go!!

BLAKMARKET.NET: Any regrets thus far in your professional career?

DJ 2MELLO:  No I can't say that I have any regrets at all, every move I made was geared solely to the advancement of my career.

BLAKMARKET.NET: You won a Southern Entertainment Award for Best Party DJ at this year's SEAs. Now, with that being said, how often are you in the clubs?
 
DJ 2MELLO: ( Laughs ) I haven't been in a club since 2006. That was my beginning but I left that because I found I could gain more notoriety doing mixtapes than strictly clubs. I will still rock a party from time to time or shut down a block in the summer but I'm done with the club scene.

BLAKMARKET.NET: You're also nominated for a Justo for Best R&B Mixtape DJ. How does that feel to be recognized by the industry and what are some of your awards you've received?

DJ 2MELLO:  I'd have to say it's the greatest feeling in the world but that's it, it's just a feeling. Winning that award will be more incredible.!! The SEA Award was my very first and the first of more to come, I hope!

BLAKMARKET.NET: Who is one person that you would say you contribute a lot of your success to?

DJ 2MELLO:  Tapemasta, "The Mixtape Librarian". That man has single handedly helped me move my mixtape grade from a D to a B. His constant counsel has helped me so much in the last seven months that its unreal. Tapemasta you already know what it is professor. We still in class, Mixtape 102, but we keep it moving.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Where do you see R&B going in your eyes?

DJ 2MELLO: We all know the genre has changed with the times and the different styles of artists. The music is not as soulful as it was when I was growing up, It's more pop oriented. There are still some artists who remain true to the art of "Rhythm and Blues". These days if Maino does a record with Trey Songs on the hook then guess what, it's R&B ( Laughs )

BLAKMARKET.NET: Let say I'm an up and coming DJ that approaches you for some words of advice. What would you say to me?

DJ 2MELLO:  Be consistent , never let anyone tell you that you cant make it in an overly saturated game just to discourage you from being better than they are and don't be afraid to do what you feel and take risks! People never see the ones that are in the crowd but they always see the ones that stand out from the crowd.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What can we expect from you in the immediate future and do you have any business ventures or plans in the works?

DJ 2MELLO:  If I told you then I'd have to kill you. ( Laughs ) Right now I'm just continuing to do me and put forth quality R&B cds for the masses. I'm about to do a Justo R&B cd then one with XXL's DJ, DJ Rhude ( what up family ). I have another collaboration in the stash that I won't discuss yet. When it comes out people's heads are going to be all F'ed up. ( Laughs )

BLAKMARKET.NET: Any last words or shout outs?

BLAKMARKET.NET:  First off I'd like to thank you for doing the interview, getting right into it. If you were on tour with an artist who would that be and why?

MarkXclusive: I think right now at this point in time..... I’d like to go on tour with Akon and the rest of his Konvict Music Crew..... I think that they’re on top right now and the acts that they have coming out are amazing.  T-Pain has been smashing everything he’s touched since he came back out on Akons label.  Then he has Brick n Lace, Kardinal Offishall, Red Cafe, Ray Lavender, Rock City, Dolla, new comer Colby O'Donis and abunch of other new talent.  The line up is amazing. Akon himself is so versatile and talented 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  If you could work with one artist that isn't hip-hop or R&B, who would it be? 
MarkXclusive:  I’d like to do some work with anyone in the gospel field.  Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Tye Tribbett, Byron Cage , Micah Stampley.  I think Gospel music is on the come up.  Gospel Music is infused with every genre of music out there...  You had Kirk Franklin hit 106 & Park countdown last year and to me that was amazing... It’s good music too.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Now, for those who aren't familiar with what it is you do, please let them know! Let us know how long you've been in the game as well?

MarkXclusive:  Well 1st off I’m a  lover of music... but Nahh I like to call myself a DJ.  You can catch my mixtapes in the streets or on the internet.  I do college radio (L.I.U. C.W.Post) as well every Friday on www.mywcwp.com .  I’ve been in the game for about 3 years now...
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  You use "Xclusive" in your name. Now, does that mean you play anything you get your hands on? Also, what would it take for you to play my music?

MarkXclusive:  Nahh. Im very selective of the stuff i play. I have to find something in it that keeps my attention.  A lot of Radio DJs/ Mixtape Djs play the Music only they like which is a big mistake... I think if you cater to everyone you have a better chance of being succesful in this game. 
 The name "Xclusive" came from my hood back in Long Island before i got in the game.  I was getting exclusive tracks nobody heard or that was rare and many people couldn’t get there hands on.  I would then pass it on to other local DJs so they could use them.  People just start adding that to my Gov't name and low and behold... MarkXclusive.... I just dropped the E in the beginning.  
 
BLAKMARKET.NET :   I'm sure there are plenty of up and coming R&B artists. So, in your opinion, what artist is ready to make that leap to stardom?

MarkXclusive:  Hands down.....Chris Brown... He’s Unbelievable... Sings... Dances... He’s going to be around for a Long time.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Growing up, who inspired you the most to get in the music business? When did you actually start?

MarkXclusive:  I wasn’t really inspired to tell you the truth.  It was an accident.  One of the people i met while I was handing out music was Big Kap.  He kind of took me under his wing and showed me the ropes.  One day he was just like " Yo Mark...You should do a mixtape", I did and it popped.  It was Summer 2005.  I’ll never forget walking up and down Canal St. for the 1st time with a duffle bag moving my cds.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  Who's the most underrated DJ of all time and why? 
MarkXclusive:  DJ MAGIC "AKA DA GIFT". (myspace.com/djmagicdagift)   That man right there... Kills a Party.... Puts 110% into everything he does.  He’s known overseas (especially Japan) as well as here in the states. Originally, from BK.  He’s crazy... I’ve seen him do 3, 4 parties in one night and smash them all... I’d put "ANY" amount of money on him on his WORST day.  We just recently started a mixtape series call Reggae Xplosion that we just won a S.E.A. (Southern Ent. Award) for.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Who were your influences and why?

MarkXclusive:  Comin up.... definitely Funkmaster Flex and Big Kap ( Tunnel Days) E-KIM, Dirty Harry, Ron G., Kid Capri, Clue, Tapemasters INC., DJ Famous, DJ Finesse.  All these people were on top of the game.  Some still are.  I want that Top spot...

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Who's the hardest working person in the mixtape industry you know personally?

MarkXclusive:  DJ LRM.  He’s a Beast. He has opened my eyes and schooled me on things I would of never known about this game.  He helped (and is still helping) me take my mixtapes to the next level.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Out of all the tapes that you've done which one was the hardest to complete and why?

MarkXclusive:  I’d have to say the tape I’m working on now... I’m working with one of my favorite MCs in the world, Busta Rhymes.  We did a CD together before ( RnB Collaborations) and it came out so crazy that we decided to get up again.  It’s called the 48 Laws of Power and its 48 tracks (double disc) of rare and unreleased Busta joints.  Busta is a perfectionist..... We've been back and forth just trying to make this CD perfect.  I can imagine how hard he works on his album.  By the time you read this interview, you should be able to click over to Blakmarket’s new releases and cop that....

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Speaking of mixtapes, what's your opinion on the RIAA?

MarkXclusive:  They ****ING SUCK.  Unbelievable people.  This music game would hurt without us DJ's.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Can you tell us the type of equipment and/or programs you use?

MarkXclusive:  Well right now I’m using Pioneer CDJ 1000s and serato(Gods gift to the DJ)  I got my Macbook as well.  I had my 1200s.... should of never sold them....

BLAKMARKET.NET:  What is your opinion of hip-hop and the directions it's headed?

MarkXclusive:  I think hiphop is in a good place right now.  Its not dead.... we in the news everyday... we're winning grammys. We on TV, We got clothing lines.... we inspire other cultures. We take a few hits but so does the Catholic Church.....  Some hungry MC is coming.... hes writing his raps down now as people are reading this... The next B.I.G...... The Next Pac, Pun, Big L, whoever

BLAKMARKET.NET:  What is the best advice you have received? 
MarkXclusive:  Damn! Ive gotten a lot of good advice.  From You (Blake), LRM.  Tapemasta (The Mixtape Librarian), DC3 (Central Station) DJ Finesse, Big Kap.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  What advice would you give an up and coming DJ/Artist?

MarkXclusive:  LOL.  Don’t do it for the Money...If you trying to be a DJ/Artist  to make money....man oh man. You got another thing coming.  Its like playing ball....  there are millions of great ball players out there, and not many of them get a chance to shine for whatever reason... Academics, drive, whatever.  There’s a chosen few.  I truly believe that it’s written already.... If it’s meant to be, it will be.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  You recently joined DJ LRM's Follow the Future company. Now, how did that come about? And how do you feel about DJ Crews and Organizations?

MarkXclusive:  I met LRM at a mutual friends house. We got to talking. He saw my name out there a little. We chopped it up and then...... Alot of these DJ crews got at me... some I was feeling, A lot I wasn’t....  I wanted to be a part of something that was going make me better.  Not me making them better.  I had Nominations for awards the first year I started..... I didn’t win.  I needed something to get me over the hump. I needed my name everywhere.  Follow the Future gave me that push. Google my name.... MarkXclusive or Mark Xclusive.  You’ll see Germany, Paris, Japan, Australia.  I’m worldwide now.... Follow the Future put my music where it’s never been.  Now I’m getting awards at big shows.... DJ HITZ: I STARTED DJING AT A YOUNG AGE I WOULD SAY ABOUT NINE ABOUT 1988. MY SISTERS BOYFRIEND WAS THE LEGENDARY DJ RATED R BIG BROTHER ...THE REAL RATED R!!! HES ALSO CLUES COUSIN....I USED TO SEE HOW THEM DUDES WAS GETTING IT WITH THE CASSETTE MASTERS I WANTED IN!!!!

BLAKMARKET. NET: I’ve noticed as far as DJ’s go, a lot are switching over into production, like Smallz and so forth. Will we ever see you doing some production for some big names in the future?

DJ HITZ: WELL OF COURSE I GOT A FANTOM RACK AND A MOTIF RACK....MPC 2500 AND MAD KITS ...IM READY TO GO... IN 09 EXPECT TO HEAR BEATS IN YO SPEAKERS.

BLAKMARKET. NET: Can you tell us about the first mixtape you ever released?

DJ HITZ: IT WAS THE BEST OF CAPONE AND NOREAGA ...THAT WAS LIKE 2000. I HAD OTHER NON REALESED STUFF BEFORE FROM LIKE 95 BUT MY STORE GRIND BEGAN IN 2000 REAL TALK.

BLAKMARKET. NET: If you could do one mixtape with one artist, who would that be and why?

DJ HITZ: RIGHT NOW JADAKISS HES GONNA BRING NY BACK AND I WANT TO DO THE CD THAT’S GONNA HELP THAT WAVE... HES A MONSTER A DJ HITZ JADAKISS OFFICIAL PROJECT WOULD DO NUMBERS!!!!

BLAKMARKET. NET: What’s your favorite mixtape to date that you’ve put out? What would you say was your least memorable?

DJ HITZ: IT HAD TO DO HAVE BEEN THE BEST OF LLOYD BANKS...IT WAS MEMORABLE CAUSE I TOOK A LEAVE WENT TO ATLANTA....THAT WAS THE FIRST TAPE I HAD DROPPED IN NINE MONTHS WHEN I CAME BACK .THE RESPONSE WAS CRAZY WHEN I DROPPED THAT CD ON THE STREETS. THE LEAST WAS THE GRAND THEFT WITH 40 CAL CANT REMEMBER THAT SHIT....IT WAS HORRIBLE CAUSE I DID IT IN ANOTHER STUDIO THERE QUALITY SUCKED I DISTRO IT THE MONEY WAS FUNNYY THAT WAS THE ONLT WACK CD I EVER DID!!!LOL

BLAKMARKET. NET: Where do you see the future of the mixtape industry headed, since the internet plays such a big role nowadays?

DJ HITZ: RIGHT NOW I SEE IT DOING A TOTAL 360 AND GETTING BETTER...RIGHT NOW WHERE IN A BAD SPACE IN EVERYTHING...THERES STILL A NEED FOR THAT FIX EVERY WEEK EVERYDAY...THERES STILL GOING TO BE PEOPLE OUT THERE THATS GONNA WANT A CD OR A MP3 OF MIXED MUSIC.. RIGHT NOW I SEE IT GOING TO A COMPLETE PACKAGE CD DVD. SOMETHING GOTTA MAKE THE CONSUMER EXCITED AGAIN....THAT WITH A MIXTURE OF THERE BEING SOME MONEY IN THE STREETS.

BLAKMARKET. NET: What's the difference between your CDs now and your previous releases?

DJ HITZ: RIGHT NOW I GOTTA STEADY FAN BASE. BEFORE I WAS DEVELOPING MY NAME...I FEEL WITH MY NAME BEING SO BIG ON THE STREETS ...PEOPLE ARE WAITING FOR ME TO FLOP...SO MY MIXTAPES HAVE TO STAY AT A CERTAIN BAR... Mick Boogie: The first real one was called Numero Uno... and it flopped... Lol... but it laid the groundwork for the creative stuff I'm doing today...

Mick Boogie: A real, in-studio mixtape with Hov would be amazing.  It's self-explanatory!

Mick Boogie: Viva La Hova for sure...it received international acclaim and Coldplay put it on their website.  We were super excited.   Least memorable... well, let's just say there have been a few.

Mick Boogie: Promo, Promo, Promo.  It's all about creating buzz and branding for the artist, the dj, and the sponsor.

Mick Boogie: They are WAY more conceptual now.

DJ SPINATIK:  I consider myself the last of a dying breed, simply because when I started djing, vinyl was still the dominant use of media and I can actually use 1200’s.  Besides being a mix-tape DJ I also do clubs and have an FM mix show on Friday nights in Tampa, FL where I was born.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  When did you become a DJ and who are your biggest influences?

DJ SPINATIK:  I started djing when I was 15 and my biggest influences were DJ Green Lantern, Jazzy Jeff & Funk Master Flex.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Can you tell us about the first mixtape you ever released?

DJ SPINATIK:  Well in high school when I started djing I put out a new mixtape every week on 90 minute tapes and gave them out to my friends and family.  But my first official mixtape that I put on CD and sold was called “Tha 8th Wondah uv tha World” and I sold those for $5 and moved about 200 in my high school hall ways.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  If you could do one mixtape with one artist, who would that be and why?

DJ SPINATIK:  Jay-Z.  Simply because he is one of my favorites and I consider him the greatest of all time. I say he is the G.O.A.T. because he has been in the game for a long time and is still extremely relevant even in the new era of hip hop.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  What’s your favorite mixtape to date that you’ve put out? What would you say is your least memorable?

DJ SPINATIK:  Street Runnaz 14 would have to be one of my favorites because that’s when I personally noticed people were paying attention to my brand and the number of units I put out had increased.  Street Runnaz 2 is my least favorite because I stepped out of what I was aiming for with my brand.  I had music from all over where as my series is mostly south street music.  Not that I don’t like music from all over, I just wanted this series to rep the south because that’s where I’m from and its what I know!

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Where do you see the future of the mixtape industry headed, since the internet plays such a big role nowadays?

DJ SPINATIK:  Seeing as almost anyone can be a mixtape dj these days it’s hard to say.  I just hope that the DJs that are actually putting out units and stay focused stay relevant and the internet doesn’t completely take over.

BLAKMARKET.NET: If you weren’t djing what would you be doing and why?

DJ SPINATIK:  If I wasn’t DJing I would probably still have my hands in music in some other fashion, whether it be producing, promoting or even hosting parties.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What's the difference between your CDs now and your previous releases?

DJ SPINATIK:  Well my previous mixtapes always had numerous blends and were more like party mixtapes, like some hip-hop, R&B, reggae & even Reggaeton with 40+ tracks all on one CD.  Now my mixtapes are just the newest south street records or the special editions I do with different artists featuring exclusive joints and freestyles from them and it’s always the full song.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What makes your CDs stand out? What can I expect to hear from a Folk tape?

DJ SPINATIK:  Personally I feel I still bring the DJ essence to a mixtape because I beat match songs, scratch and bring joints back.  My mixtapes are also more about the music then myself.  I try not to overdose with sound effects and I don’t talk all over joints.  You can always expect a quality mixtape with the newest & exclusive joints!

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Speaking of mixtapes, what’s your opinion on the RIAA?

DJ SPINATIK:  They need to relax and realize that mixtapes are phenomenal promotional materials for artists.  A lot of different artists know it and even state that mixtapes made them.  So the RIAA should look at the bigger picture.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Can you tell us the type of equipment and/or programs you use?

DJ SPINATIK:  I use Technics 1210MK2s as well as Pioneer CDJ 1000s, Serato with an apple laptop, Sound Forge, Vegas Video, Vestax PMC-05 & a Pioneer DJM-800.  NOT ALL AT THE SAME TIME!! But that’s the different stuff I use.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Now are you working on an official album?
DJ SPINATIK:  As of right now there is no album in the works, just trying to solidify my name in this game.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Overall, on a scale of 1-10, where would you rate yourself thus far in your career?

DJ SPINATIK:  I’m going to have to say a 1! As shocking as that might sound to some I say that because I want to grow and never stop! So if I say a 7 or something that would mean I felt as if I’m close to the peak of my career.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Is there anything other than Hip-Hop that you would want to venture into? 
DJ SPINATIK:  Well I like a plethora of different music as well as all things in the entertainment industry so where ever my career takes me I’m willing to go.

DJ SPINATIK:  Always working on a Street Runnaz joint and a few joint ventures with some other djs are on the way!

DJ SPINATIK:  Well I just recently won 2009 Mixtape Rookie of the Year at the Southern Entertainment Awards and last year at the Tampa Music Conference I won the DJ Clips award.  That award will always mean a lot to me because its in honor of a fellow DJ from Tampa that passed a few years back and he embodied what Tampa felt to be a true DJ and that is a DJ that can mix, scratch, rock a club and put out a good mixtape and that’s what the award represents and I won the first one ever presented.

DJ Flaco:  I started djin winter of 92’, doing free parties around the way. I have to say any hard working dj that mixes and has actually touched vinyl are my influences.

DJ Flaco:  ha, that tape was weak, it was in 93'. It was on an old tdk tape that had been recorded over 100 times. No artwork jus marker tag. My first mix cd was in 02' it was dope it was actually my come back from being away so long I sold a couple hundred copies

DJ Flaco:  probably AZ, he is the truth, he got mean word play and top notch swag. We feeling you in Ohio AZ, so u got to come out this way homie.

DJ Flaco:  my favorite joint would have to be this Reggaeton one I did for Valentines Day "los amores vol.1". I still get emails and text msgs asking for those. Don’t worry people vol.3 is coming 09' I got yall. As far as my least memorable one, it would have to be my first R&B tape. The opening was week; I can’t stand to look at the cover

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Where do you see the future of the mixtape industry headed, since the internet plays such a big role nowadays?

DJ Flaco:  man mixtapes are just going to be dinosaurs (well the hard copies). I mean everyone is going the digital download path and heads aint really burning them on cd after they download them, they just throwing them in the mp3 players. I’m not tripping I’m wit it all day, less chips on printing covers and burning cds. Now the net can also hurt you if you ain’t on top of your game.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What's the difference between your CDs now and your previous releases?

DJ Flaco:  Well the quality of the music is a lot better; I’ve gotten better at mastering my mix. I still mix nonstop as I did before it’s just now it doesn’t take me as long to drop a new mix

BLAKMARKET.NET: What makes your CDs stand out? What can I expect to hear from one of your tapes?

DJ Flaco:  you will always get a mix tape from me, not just a tape with music on it. I mix homie jus like I do in the club

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Speaking of mixtapes, what's your opinion on the RIAA?

DJ Flaco:  real talk I’m not feeling the RIAA, them empty suits are a bunch of losers. Fwd that to them! The labels are not to far either. How can you strike the unit (mixtape djs) who you give product to feed the listeners. If you don’t want your music from your artist heard in the clubs and on the streets then stop sending me/us your product then. But when no one buys your product (because they aint hear it on the block or in the club) then don’t come sending me/us a gang of email saying and I quote "please stand behind this record, we need your help to break it in your market". Dumb asses, what the hell you thought we were doing?

DJ Flaco:  I use serato and cdj1000s, but I will use 1200s if the club doesn’t have cdjs.

DJ Flaco:  I give myself an eight, I’m not where I want to be so I can’t play myself and rate myself at the ten spot yet. But im coming people and I aint leaving when I get there

DJ Flaco:  yea I want to own a radio station that broadcast on air and online. I want the people to have the option of what they want to listen to at that moment. Weather it be hip hop, reggae ton or even rock.

DJ KLAPTON: Well, I've always loved music and have been involved in it, in some shape or form since I was 7 years old. My mother bought my first guitar when I was 9. I started making beats when I was 12 on a real basic loop program. The DJ'ing thing didn't come about until I was around 17 or 18. My influences as far as DJ's were the usual suspects growing up in the NY/NJ area. DJ Clue, Funk Master Flex, DJ Kay Slay, Big Mike, Green Lantern, Envy- All the mix tape dudes.

BLAKMARKET.NET: Can you tell us about the first mixtape you ever released?

DJ KLAPTON: Yea, I released it with my dude M-Greaz under the group name "I.T.-Team". It was around the same time George Bush got elected. We made some crazy cover playing out George Bush. Hahaha I wish I still had it. We made it exclusively for a big record pool in Jersey. It had all the newest and hottest records mixed together with both of us just talking shit. It was dope! Well, not really but I'll never forget it! hahaha

BLAKMARKET.NET:  If you could do one mixtape with one artist, who would that be and why?

DJ KLAPTON:  Umm, that’s a good question. He's not alive but I would love to get a bunch of exclusive acapellas and do Big Pun tributes tape. Wow! That shit would be classic. Have his wife & kids host it- Maybe with some new verses from some of the best Latin Mc's coming up. Wow! Watch some DJ steal my shit. Haha But they couldn't do it like how I would do it. I think Pun was 1 of the greatest and that would just be dope to do!

BLAKMARKET.NET:  What’s your favorite mixtape to date that you’ve put out? What would you say is your least memorable?

DJ KLAPTON:  My favorite mixtape has to be "The Rock Premier" mixtape I did with my artist LuGuz & DJ Big Mike. It was LuGuz rhyming over 6 Pete Rock beats & 6 DJ Premier beats. The kings of beats. It's my favorite cause we basically took that tape from the bottom and created a buzz & started a fan base for LuGuz. It's pretty easy to take an established artist who has a fan base set up already and put a tape out. But its not as easy with a up & coming MC. It wasn't my biggest tape but we had fun making it and it was rewarding to get feedback on a new artist like that. My least memorable I don't really remember. Hahaha

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Where do you see the future of the mixtape industry headed, since the internet plays such a big role nowadays?

DJ KLAPTON:  I really don't know where I see it going. New artist have found a way to use the internet to build there fan bases and no longer have to use mixtape DJ's to get their music heard. If you look at the last Freshmen XXL covers, some of those artists have never been on a mixtape before. So it’s hard to judge but as long as DJ's keep doing creative shit, the artist will always come looking for them.

BLAKMARKET.NET: If you weren’t djing what would you be doing and why?

DJ KLAPTON: I would be involved in the music business in some way.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What's the difference between your CDs now and your previous releases?

DJ KLAPTON: Well, I just try to get better each time. I study my last mixtape before I put out a new one and try to top myself each time.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What makes your CDs stand out? What can I expect to hear from a DJ Klapton mixtape?

DJ KLAPTON: I think my concepts make my CD's stand out, that along with the artwork. I always try to work with the best cover designers. I like how older mixtapes sounded and how they were mixed. So you might hear old school tricks along with some new techniques I'm working on. I always try to do something new with the mixes, so you can never really expect to hear the same things on my tapes.
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  Speaking of mixtapes, what’s your opinion on the RIAA?

DJ KLAPTON: Never heard of them and hopefully they never heard of me. Hahaha

BLAKMARKET.NET: Can you tell us the type of equipment and/or programs you use?

DJ KLAPTON: I use Serato, Virtual DJ, protools & acid pro for some editing. I also produce, so I use Reason, FL Studio & Logic.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Overall, on a scale of 1-10, where would you rate yourself thus far in your career?

DJ KLAPTON: A 1. I see myself doing a lot more.

BLAKMARKET.NET:  Is there anything other than Hip-Hop that you would want to venture into?

DJ KLAPTON: I like all music. R&B, Rock, House etc...If its dope I want to be a part of it.

BLAKMARKET.NET: What projects are you currently working on?

DJ KLAPTON: I am currently working on LuGuz's follow up mixtape The Rock Premier Part 2 with Tapemasters Inc. We are dropping that on July 14th as a free download. You know we need that Blakmarket support!!

BLAKMARKET.NET:  What are some of the awards you’ve received?

DJ KLAPTON: I have not received an award as of yet, but I am working toward it and hopefully in the future I can receive one. 
 
BLAKMARKET.NET:  Do you have any words for up and coming DJ(s) trying to get in the industry? 
DJ KLAPTON: Please be creative. You don't need to have the best skills but you do need some. Work on DJing first. And please don't come into the game looking for money. If you love and have a passion for music everything else will fall into place
